8-28-14 "Missouri Police Sued for $40 million over actions in Ferguson protests"

A few people who were arrested in Ferguson are now suing the Missouri police for $40 million.  These six plaintiffs are suing for alleged civil rights violations through arrests and assaults with rubber bullets and tear gas.  A mom and her son were just sitting in McDonald's when they were forced out and thrown to the grown and arrested.  Another alleges that he was trying to visit his mother in Ferguson when he was shot with rubber bullets and then beaten and pepper sprayed.  Two other plaintiffs said that they were peacefully protesting when officers in riot gear fired at them with tear gas, rubber bullets, and stun grenades.

The things that happened in Ferguson remind me of something.  They remind of the Rodney King Beating and the L.A. riots that happened because of Rodney King getting beat by officers.  In Ferguson, there was a 18 year old African-American shot to death and then we had a reaction from the community.  This reaction had looting, protesting, and rioting.  Do you not see the similarities?  Why are we letting history repeat itself?  These six plaintiffs had their rights violated and they have every right to sue the Missouri police.  Last class period we were talking about rights and the natural rights.  We have the right to life.  Matthew Brown lost that right.  There is no excuse for a police officer to shoot anyone multiple times.  This included two times in the head.  I am glad that these six people are taking action and I am also glad to see the U.S. Justice Department start it's own investigation.  We need to protect each other's rights.
